In 2024, it was announced that the Miramax label at Paramount, which is now operating under new boss Jonathan Glickman, had given the greenlight to a new\u00a0<em>Scary Movie<\/em>\u00a0sequel (<em><mark><mark style=\"background-color:#ffffff\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Scary Movie 6<\/mark><\/mark><\/em>, to be exact), with the plan being to get the film into theatres sometime in\u00a02025.\u00a0Well, they weren\u2019t able to get the film into production as quickly as they hoped, but\u00a0<em>Scary Movie 6<\/em>\u00a0is scheduled to reach theatres on\u00a0<strong>June 5, 2026<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With that date just a few months away, a trailer recently dropped online to give us a preview of scenes that parody recent\u00a0<em>Scream<\/em>\u00a0sequels,\u00a0<em>Terrifier 3, Sinners, Get Out,<\/em>\u00a0and more.\u00a0Acknowledging the fact that <em>Sinners<\/em> took home <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/the-98th-academy-awards-winners\/\">some Oscar gold<\/a> on Sunday night, a new teaser has been unveiled to show off more of the movie&#8217;s<em> Sinners <\/em>parody scene. You can check it out in the embed above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cast\">Cast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wayans Brothers wrote the screenplay for the new film with Rick Alvarez, who has previously worked with members of the family on multiple projects, including&nbsp;<em>A Haunted House, A Haunted House 2, Fifty Shades of Black, Naked, Sextuplets, Dance Flick, Little Man, White Chicks,<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Scary Movie 2<\/em>, among other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Directed by Michael Tiddes, who was the helm of the&nbsp;<em>Haunted House<\/em>&nbsp;movies,&nbsp;<em>Fifty Shades of Black,<\/em>&nbsp;<em>Naked<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>Sextuplets<\/em>&nbsp;(and don\u2019t forget&nbsp;<em>Half Baked: Totally High<\/em>),&nbsp;<em>Scary Movie 6<\/em>&nbsp;stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall, reprising the roles of Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other returning cast members include Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans,&nbsp;Lochlyn Monroe, Dave Sheridan, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams. Newcomers include Olivia Rose Keegan, Savannah Lee Nassif, Cameron Scott Roberts, Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, Ruby Snowber, Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, Heidi Gardner, and Benny Zielke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Sleepaway Camp<\/em>\u2018s Felissa Rose and&nbsp;<em>Terrifier<\/em>&nbsp;producer&nbsp;Michael Leavy are featured in the&nbsp;<em>Terrifier 3<\/em>&nbsp;parody sequence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-scary-movie-nbsp-refresher\"><em>Scary Movie&nbsp;<\/em>Refresher<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Directed by&nbsp;<em>In Living Color<\/em>&nbsp;creator Keenen Ivory Wayans from a screenplay written by a bunch of people (Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Buddy Johnson, Phil Beauman, Jason Friedberg, and Aaron Seltzer), the first&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/scary-movie-joblo-reviews\/\">Scary Movie<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;was released by Dimension Films back in 2000.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/scary-movie-2-joblo-reviews\/\">Scary Movie 2<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;was released in 2001, and the Wayans remained at the head of the creative team for that one. Keenen Ivory Wayans directed it from a screenplay credited to Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Alyson Fouse, Greg Grabianski, Dave Polsky, Michael Anthony Snowden, and Craig Wayans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was a shake-up behind the scenes on 2003\u2019s&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/scary-movie-3-joblo-reviews\/\">Scary Movie 3<\/a><\/em>, as Dimension hired&nbsp;<em>Airplane<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>The Naked Gun<\/em>&nbsp;director David Zucker to take the helm. Zucker directed that film from a screenplay by Craig Mazin and Pat Proft. That trio returned for&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/scary-movie-4-joblo-reviews\/\">Scary Movie 4<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;in 2006, with Jim Abrahams also receiving a writing credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seven years later, Pat Proft and David Zucker came back to write&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/review-scary-movie-5\/\">Scary Movie 5<\/a><\/em>, which was directed by&nbsp;<em>Undercover Brother<\/em>\u2018s Malcolm D. Lee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first&nbsp;<em>Scary Movie<\/em>&nbsp;was made on a budget of $19 million and earned $278 million at the box office, so the budgets increased for most of the sequels.&nbsp;<em>Scary Movie 2<\/em>&nbsp;cost $45 million and made $141 million,&nbsp;<em>Scary Movie 3<\/em>&nbsp;cost $48 million and made almost $221 million, and&nbsp;<em>Scary Movie 4<\/em>&nbsp;was made for $40 million and earned $178 million at the box office. After the lengthy break between movies,&nbsp;<em>Scary Movie 5<\/em>&nbsp;got a lower budget, dropping back down to $20 million.
