Kristen Bell to voice the giant hammer-wielding Amy Rose for Sonic the Hedgehog 4

Stop! Hammer time! Paramount Pictures had better put another chilli dog on the grill and increase their reservation at Olive Garden because Kristen Bell is joining the cast of the highly anticipated sequel, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, as Sonic’s hammer-wielding friend, Amy Rose! Bell joins returning co-stars Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation, Invincible, Die Hart: Die Harter) as Sonic, Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation, The Losers, Thor: Ragnarok) as Knuckles, Keanu Reeves (John Wick franchise, The Matrix franchise, Point Break) as Shadow, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails.

On the human side, Jim Carrey plays the unpredictable villain Dr. Robotnik, Lee Majdoub plays Agent Stone, Dr. Robotnik’s right-hand man (and perhaps more), while James Marden and Tika Sumpter play Tom and Maddie, Sonic’s adoptive parents, respectively.

Amy Rose’s Sonic movie debut already happened

A mid-credits sequence in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 teases the arrival of two anticipated characters from the franchise, Metal Sonic and the giant hammer-wielding hedgehog, Amy Rose. Amy’s inclusion in Paramount’s Sonic cinematic universe could introduce a love interest for the Blue Blur. In addition to feeling flirty around Sonic, Amy is a bubbly, kind, and battle-ready do-gooder with attitude and a temper. Amy did not speak in the mid-credits sequence, leaving room for today’s big announcement.

Jeff Fowler returns to director’s chair

Jeff Fowler, who directed the previous three movies, returns to helm the fourth chapter of the film franchise. Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher of Original Films, and Toru Nakahara, return as producers, with Paramount scheduling the film for a March 19, 2027, release. If you combine all three films, Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has earned over $1 billion worldwide.

Calm yourselves, gooners. Try to remember that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is a family affair, and you’ll need to get your spicy Sonic fanfic elsewhere. Still, Amy Rose joining Paramount’s film franchise is exciting. Some of us, I won’t name names, have been waiting for Amy Rose to join the Sonic-Verse since the first installment. All good things come to those who wait. Additionally, Kristen Bell is a fantastic choice for the voice of Amy Rose. Bell famously voiced Anna in Disney‘s Frozen franchise, with two more films on the way!
